The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is implementing measures to curb water wastage and ensure safe drinking water access. Special Assistant Shafi Jan presented these initiatives at a seminar in Hayatabad, held in collaboration with UNICEF.
Ongoing projects include modern water distribution systems and flow meters in five cities to reduce losses. The government monitors tube well operations through SCADA systems and is replacing aging pipelines to improve supply.
Despite these efforts, many residents still lack access to safe water, with plans to extend access to all households within three years. Shafi Jan stressed the importance of sanitation alongside water supply and called for community action to promote responsible water use.
