In late 2024, Kimco, a Belgian carrot and onion specialist, began using six new optical sorting machines, modernizing its sorting process. This project, in collaboration with Murre Technologies, followed years of planning and was initiated due to previous limitations in space and technology.

In 2023, concrete discussions led to the development of a feasible design that integrated sorters between the washing area and packaging line. The installation, completed in October 2024 with zero downtime, improved sorting quality and capacity, allowing for precise selection based on customer requirements. Kimco's management highlighted the need for automation and innovation to address industry challenges.
