Kirklees Council Allocates Over £3M for Essential School Repairs and Upgrades
Kirklees Council plans to invest over £3 million in essential repairs and improvements across more than 20 schools in 2026/27. Key projects include roofing work, new heating systems, and fire safety upgrades. A dedicated £200,000 is also allocated for adaptations for students with disabilities. The investment, funded by government grants, aims to enhance learning environments while minimizing disruption during the summer holidays.

Kirklees Council is set to invest over £3 million in essential repairs and improvements to more than 20 schools for the 2026/27 period. Planned upgrades include replacing roofs, rewiring electrical systems, installing LED lighting, and enhancing fire safety.
Major projects involve roofing work at Norristhorpe J & I School and Whitechapel Primary School and new heat pumps at Wilberlee J & I School. A £200,000 allocation will support adaptations for students with disabilities.
Works are scheduled primarily during the summer holidays to reduce disruption. The program is funded through government capital grants.
