KN Energies Selects Sweco Lietuva for CO2 Terminal Environmental Impact Assessment in Klaipėda

CARBON CAPTURE

KN Energies has selected Sweco Lietuva to provide environmental impact assessment and territorial planning services for a planned CO2 terminal in Klaipėda, with a contract value of €234,560 excluding VAT. The terminal will be located at the KN Energies liquid energy products terminal site, aiming to support the EU's climate neutrality goal by 2050 through carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies.

The CCS Baltic Consortium project, established in 2022, aims to collect CO2 from industries in the Baltic region for storage in the North Sea. The terminal infrastructure will operate under an open-access principle to encourage sector participation. The CCS project is co-financed by the EU and is expected to be implemented by 2030, with services from KN Energies and Sweco Lietuva to be completed within two years.
