Kolašin Enhances Water Supply and Reduces Network Losses
Kolašin is set to upgrade its water supply system through two funded projects, replacing 22 kilometers of aging pipes. This initiative aims to decrease water loss and improve service efficiency in a network that has significant physical losses and outdated infrastructure.

Kolašin will replace 22 kilometers of three-inch diameter pipes as part of two projects funded by the Ministry of Ecology and the Ministry of Agriculture, with support from the World Bank. The initiative targets the replacement of asbestos, cast iron, and galvanized pipes, addressing significant water loss and inefficiencies in a network predominantly aged between 50 and 100 years.
Additionally, a SCADA system will be implemented to enhance monitoring across 15 locations, allowing for better detection of leaks and optimization of water management. The total value of the SCADA project is €400,000, with the municipality covering the project documentation costs. Challenges such as seasonal source turbidity and insufficient metering remain significant risks for the water supply in Kolašin.
