Testing of a prototype electrodeless plasma engine has commenced at the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center. The facility, designed to replicate space conditions, spans nearly 1,000 cubic meters and features high pumping speeds for comprehensive parameter evaluations.
This initiative is part of the broader effort to develop propulsion technology intended for missions to Mars and other destinations. The prototype's operational demonstration occurred recently during a meeting of the Kurchatov Institute's Supervisory Board. Successful testing could significantly enhance deep-space exploration capabilities.
