Leadec Implements AI Cobot for Enhanced Logistics Efficiency in Germany
Leadec has introduced an AI-powered cobot solution at its Kölleda site to automate empties management, targeting a 50% increase in automated processing of small load carriers. This innovation is set to streamline logistics operations, significantly reducing employee workload and enhancing operational reliability.

Leadec has deployed an AI-based pick-and-place cobot solution at its Kölleda facility in Germany, automating the management of small load carriers. The system operates with a 3D camera and AI-powered object recognition from Vathos, processing approximately 12,000 carriers and 1,800 pallets each day.
Initially focused on two carrier types, which account for 30% of the volume, the cobot improves sorting and stacking tasks, enhancing logistics efficiency. The solution's hardware-independent design facilitates easy integration into existing systems, supporting scalability and faster adaptation to new container types.
Leadec aims to increase the share of automated processing to over 50% at this site and expand the solution to other facilities. The success of this implementation could set a precedent for further AI-driven automation across the industry.
