Lebanon Establishes Committee for Wastewater Treatment Plant Site Selection
Lebanon forms a committee to evaluate new sites for a wastewater treatment plant, with a deadline for state funding by September 30. The project is crucial for securing approximately $1.8 million in American Rescue Plan funding.
The Lebanon City Council approved a committee on May 5 to explore potential sites for a new wastewater treatment plant, necessary for obtaining state funding. The committee, which includes Councilor Camille Burdine and Mayor Rick Bell, will recommend sites to the council by September 30 to secure full reimbursement for $1.8 million in American Rescue Plan funds.
Missing the deadline would reduce reimbursement to 80%, costing the city an additional $360,000. Currently, the Hartmann Drive facility operates at 75% capacity, and Lebanon's growth necessitates a plant with a capacity of 20 million gallons per day. The proposed Rockwood site, however, presents challenges due to its flood plain designation and gas easement issues.
