Leiolai Unveils leiolai-1 AI Model with Device-Based Computation
Leiolai's new AI model, leiolai-1, operates on user devices, promising cost-effective computation with no water usage. The launch targets developers and consumers, offering an API and a consumer app that incentivizes users for device contributions.

Leiolai has introduced the leiolai-1 AI model, focusing on inference via user devices instead of centralized data centers, which allows for scalable computation. The model features an 11 million token context window and the ability to generate outputs without fixed limits.
Pricing for the Fast tier begins at USD $0.01 per million input tokens, with significant cost savings for large-scale text generation tasks. Leiolai offers different modes, including Research and Private, catering to developers, researchers, and users seeking confidentiality.
The consumer app will be free, rewarding users for contributing computation. Although Leiolai's approach could reduce reliance on data centers, challenges in distributed inference on personal hardware may arise.
