Liebherr-Africa is establishing a multimillion-rand competence and distribution center in Durban to enhance support for port operations in southern Africa, providing sales, technical expertise, and parts availability. The facility will also include a technology and training campus to upskill industry professionals, while Liebherr expands its service hubs in the Western Cape to support Transnet Port Terminals. The company aims to introduce smart, sustainable solutions tailored to African conditions, focusing on digital monitoring and energy-efficient equipment.

Liebherr-Africa is constructing a multimillion-rand competence and distribution center in Durban to enhance support for southern Africa's port and terminal operations. The facility will serve as a central hub for sales, technical expertise, parts availability, and OEM lifecycle support, aimed at improving equipment uptime and operational reliability.
A technology and training campus will be included to support the upskilling of professionals in the industry. Liebherr is also expanding its service hubs in the Western Cape to bolster support for Transnet Port Terminals and assist with the refurbishment and optimization of existing maritime cranes. The company plans to introduce smart, efficient, and sustainable solutions tailored to African conditions, focusing on digital condition monitoring and predictive maintenance tools, while increasing its emphasis on electrified and energy-efficient equipment in response to decarbonization efforts.
