Lismore Completes $1.28 Million Upgrade to Gasworks Creek Pump Station for Flood Mitigation
Lismore has completed a $1.28 million upgrade to the Gasworks Creek pump station, marking the first phase of a $29.8 million project to modernize its flood defense system. Funded by the Australian government through the Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program, the upgrades aim to enhance the city's flood resilience and efficiency in stormwater management. Future work will include a new pump station in South Lismore and upgrades to Browns Creek and Magellan Street stations.

Lismore has completed a $1.28 million upgrade to the Gasworks Creek pump station, part of a $29.8 million modernization project funded by the Australian government through the Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program. The upgrade includes raising electrical systems above the 2022 flood level of 14.4 meters and installing trash screens to prevent blockages.
Lismore City Council will also begin constructing a new pump station in South Lismore and upgrading the Browns Creek and Magellan Street stations. The enhancements are designed to improve stormwater management and flood resilience, particularly during high-intensity rain events.
