Lockport Hosts Workshops on Potential Data Center Development
Lockport is organizing workshops to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a data center in the Star Innovation District. The discussions aim to engage the community and experts on environmental implications and zoning considerations.

The City of Lockport is set to conduct workshops on May 26 and June 4 to examine the potential development of a data center in the Star Innovation District, a 178-acre site acquired in 2021. This site, previously owned by Chevron, has undergone environmental remediation and is zoned for data center use.
Mayor Steven Streit stated that while there is no official development plan, the city seeks community input and expert insights from organizations like ComEd and Argonne National Laboratory. The initiative aims to assess both the advantages and disadvantages of such a project and to ensure environmental standards are met. This could signify a significant economic opportunity for the area.
