Louisiana's LDH Orders Shreveport to Address Water System Infrastructure Deficiencies
The Louisiana Department of Health has mandated Shreveport to undertake significant repairs on its water system infrastructure by April 2026, following multiple deficiencies reported since 2021. Required repairs include improvements to flow meters, sensors, and actuators, as well as providing standby power at pump sites. Additionally, a $4 million project to replace a valve at the city's water plant is in the planning stages, distinct from a current break in a 42-inch transmission line.

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has issued an administrative order requiring Shreveport to address infrastructure deficiencies in its water system. The city must repair flow meters, sensors, and actuators and provide standby power at pump facilities by April 2026.
A $4 million project is planned to replace a valve and repair pipes on the 24-inch transmission main at the Amiss Plant. This project is separate from the ongoing break in a 42-inch transmission line. LDH's order follows multiple deficiencies identified between 2021 and 2024.
