LSE Transforms HR Operations with New System, Reducing Legacy Processes
The London School of Economics has replaced 250 legacy HR and payroll processes with a unified platform, significantly enhancing efficiency and reducing handling times. Implemented by MHR, the new system has improved user experience and data accuracy, leading to fewer payroll queries and streamlined onboarding.

The London School of Economics (LSE) has replaced 250 legacy HR and payroll processes with a single platform, resulting in substantial time savings for employees and the Help Desk. The project, executed with MHR, includes automated workflows that enhance visibility for managers while supporting employee development.
LSE initiated plans for this modernization prior to the pandemic, driven by a need to address complex processes and improve user experience. The deployment, set for 2025, follows extensive consultations with 30 UK universities and includes 22 internal software champions.
Notably, the introduction of self-service onboarding has improved data accuracy and reduced routine pay queries significantly, leading to the closure of a dedicated HR inbox for leave queries. The groundwork established positions LSE for future advancements in AI and automation.
