L&T Enhances Growth Through Green Business and Automation Strategies
Larsen & Toubro is focusing on automation and green initiatives to drive growth, with green businesses generating over 50% of revenue. The construction sector faces workforce challenges, prompting a shift towards technology-led solutions to enhance efficiency and safety in project execution.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) reported that its green businesses, including clean mobility and recycling, now account for over half of its revenue. The company has set ambitious targets for carbon and water neutrality as part of its sustainability strategy, which began integrated reporting in 2018.
L&T's order book has risen to approximately Rs 7.5 lakh crore from Rs 3.5 lakh crore five years ago. To address labor shortages, L&T is increasingly deploying automation and robotics across construction activities, transforming traditional labor-intensive methods into factory-like processes.
This shift aims to improve efficiency, safety, and reduce reliance on manual labor. The company's experience in the Middle East enhances its capability to undertake large-scale projects, further solidifying its market position. The push for automation could also mitigate safety risks, crucial in managing a workforce of 400,000.
