Lucknow Metro's East-West Corridor (Phase-1B) will introduce driverless train operations utilizing Unattended Train Operation (UTO) mode, supported by communication-based train control (CBTC) technology. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has issued a tender for 15 advanced train sets, with a submission deadline of June 16, 2026.
The project includes AI-based predictive maintenance integrated with Train Control and Management System (TCMS) to monitor real-time performance data and automate maintenance processes. Safety features include Passenger Emergency Intercom systems for direct communication with train operators. Additional innovations encompass sensor-based air-conditioning for energy efficiency and infotainment screens for passenger information.
