Lynn Water & Sewer Commission Advances Ipswich River Improvement Project with $200,000 Grant
The Lynn Water & Sewer Commission (LWSC) is set to enhance infrastructure along the Ipswich River as part of the Ipswich River Project. Funded by a $200,000 grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration received in 2024, the project includes upgrades to aging pumping station equipment. Bids for contractors are due on February 19, with the project slated to commence this summer. These upgrades are essential for maintaining operations as older systems are phased out and are linked to the removal of the Boston Dam, which will require adjustments to existing infrastructure.

The Lynn Water & Sewer Commission (LWSC) is preparing to implement improvements tied to the Ipswich River Project following a $200,000 grant received in 2024 from the Healey-Driscoll Administration. The project, focused on upgrading aging equipment at the pumping station, recently went out to bid, with general bids due on February 19.
LWSC aims to maintain water pumping operations from the Ipswich River, with upgrades necessary due to the original pumps dating back to 1915. The project is also connected to the removal of the Boston Dam, requiring adjustments to the piping and pumping infrastructure to ensure water flow to the city’s system. Work is expected to begin this summer.
