The Made Smarter Yorkshire Digital Internship Programme is aiding manufacturers in West Yorkshire in adopting automation and digital systems. Ebar, a Brighouse-based company, has benefited from the program, developing a digital inspection capability that enhances the reliability of its automated beverage systems.

The initiative, which offers funded three-month placements for digital talent, is delivered by Sheffield Hallam University and supported by the Government. Manufacturers are reporting improved productivity and competitiveness due to the integration of automation and data systems, with some creating permanent roles as a result.
