Mansfield Planning Commission Approves Buc-ee's Rezoning Amid Resident Concerns
The Mansfield Planning Commission has voted 5-1 to recommend B-2 general business zoning for a proposed Buc-ee's Travel Center. This development is projected to create over 200 full-time jobs and generate significant tax revenue, but faces opposition from local residents concerned about traffic, safety, and environmental impacts.

The Mansfield Planning Commission endorsed a 110-acre rezoning for a Buc-ee's Travel Center, aiming to establish a site with over 70,000 square feet of retail space and generate more than 200 jobs. The proposal, which has received preliminary approval from the City Council, is contingent on addressing local traffic and environmental concerns, particularly from residents near the I-71/Ohio 39 interchange.
Community feedback has highlighted worries about increased traffic on smaller roads, potential flooding, and impacts on local agricultural heritage. The project requires compliance with regulatory standards from various agencies, including the Ohio EPA and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers. Ongoing discussions will focus on ensuring safety and infrastructure improvements to mitigate the projected influx of visitors. The final vote on the annexation and development plan is scheduled for May 19.
