MDA Solicits Concepts for Next-Gen Forward-Based Radar Prototype
The Missile Defense Agency is seeking industry concepts for a mobile radar prototype aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities. The initiative targets advanced sensor technologies to improve threat detection and integration with existing systems.

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has announced a presolicitation for the Forward-Based Mode Radar Next prototype, focusing on advanced radar technologies for missile defense. The goal is to create a mobile sensor system that can be rapidly deployed via C-17 aircraft and tactical ground vehicles, integrated within existing defense frameworks.
Key requirements include advanced threat detection in electromagnetic contested environments, automated health monitoring, and interoperability with the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system. The design must also support modular architecture and cost-efficient production. This initiative could enhance the U.S. missile defense posture by improving rapid response capabilities and operational readiness.
