Meat & Livestock Australia Launches $45M Feedlot Research Program with ALFA
Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) has initiated the Feedlot Research for Accelerated Adoption Program (RAAD), a $45 million investment over five years in partnership with The Australian Lot Feeders' Association (ALFA). The program aims to enhance innovation in Australia's feedlot sector by embedding structured research within operating feedlots to generate real-world evidence that supports livestock productivity and business resilience. Initial focus areas include shade and shelter systems, with plans to expand into additional priority research areas.

The initial focus will be on shade and shelter systems, with future expansions into animal health, automation, and sustainability. Participation will be supported through co-funding from the MLA Donor Company, ensuring commercial ownership and transparent results.
