MEDA Invites ₹17.5 Crore Bids for Solar Microgrids in Maharashtra Villages
MEDA seeks bids for solar microgrid projects in five villages of Amravati district, totaling ₹17.51 crore. The initiative aims to enhance electricity access in areas lacking conventional grid connectivity, particularly around the Melghat Tiger Reserve.

The Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has launched a tender for decentralized solar microgrid projects in five remote villages in Amravati district, with an estimated cost of ₹17.51 crore. These projects are designed to provide electricity access to areas approximately 10-30 km from the grid, specifically in designated forest regions.
They will feature a combined solar capacity of 990 kWp and battery storage of 3,110 kWh, serving around 1,213 households. The installations include 260 solar streetlights and various solar-powered systems.
Bids are due by June 29, 2026, with technical evaluations commencing the following day. Failure to meet the 180-day commissioning requirement could impact project timelines.
