Mexico Proposes Federal Law to Promote Precision and Regenerative Livestock for Carbon Credit Generation

CARBON CAPTURE

José Braña Mojica, a federal deputy in Mexico, has proposed a bill to create a Federal Law for Precision and Regenerative Livestock. The bill aims to modernize the cattle sector through digital technologies, positioning livestock production as a tool for carbon capture.

It promotes precision livestock technologies, encouraging producers to adopt smart sensors, IoT, AI, and cloud computing. The initiative targets carbon credit generation on Mexican farmland, providing access to new financing mechanisms.

It responds to challenges like soil degradation and increasing global demand for animal protein, projected to rise by 70% by 2050. More than 300 carbon credit projects are currently operational in Mexico, demonstrating the country's capacity to compete in international markets.
