Milestones Achieved for Olympic Subsea's New Energy Support Vessels
Olympic Subsea has progressed in its newbuild program with the keel laid for the first subsea energy support vessel and steel cut for the second. The project aims for delivery by summer 2027, enhancing operational efficiency in offshore energy markets.
In April 2026, Olympic Subsea marked the keel-laying of its first subsea energy support vessel (SEV) and began steel cutting for the second at CMHI Shenzhen shipyard, with a targeted delivery by summer 2027. Designed by Kongsberg Maritime, the UT7623 SEVs will feature a hybrid battery propulsion system, methanol-ready Caterpillar Marine gensets, and advanced automation, significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Huisman will supply 250-tonne knuckleboom cranes equipped with an active heave compensation system. These vessels will operate across offshore oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors, indicating a shift towards more sustainable offshore operations.
