Minago Development GP has signed a licensing agreement with Big Blue Technologies for exclusive rights to its magnesium extraction technology in Canada. This aluminothermic reduction method is the most cost-effective and energy-efficient available, reducing carbon emissions by up to 98% and potentially becoming carbon-negative with future carbon capture.

Minago plans to use this technology on approximately 111 million tonnes of dolomite above its nickel/PGM deposit, producing magnesium without additional mining or waste. Canada currently consumes about 25,000 tonnes of magnesium annually, while the U.S. consumes 200,000 tonnes.

The Minago deposit aims to fulfill Canada's magnesium needs and support export growth, as North America currently lacks primary magnesium production. This project is positioned to enhance supply chain security and provide critical minerals while creating employment opportunities for local First Nation residents.
