Münch Energie Launches Germany's Largest 500 MWh Battery Storage Cluster in Saxony-Anhalt
Münch Energie is commissioning a 500 MWh battery storage cluster in Saxony-Anhalt, the largest contiguous BESS project in Germany. Full energization is expected within weeks, with plans to expand capacity to 800 MWh by the end of 2026. Suena Energy has been appointed to optimize three assets within the cluster, totaling around 300 MWh. This includes standalone and grid-shared operations with a co-located solar plant, marking it as the largest battery setup of its kind in Germany.

Münch Energie is commissioning a 500 MWh battery storage cluster in Saxony-Anhalt, which is the largest contiguous BESS project operating in Germany. Full energization is anticipated within weeks, with an expansion plan to reach 800 MWh by the end of 2026.
Suena Energy will manage commercial optimization for three assets in the cluster, amounting to approximately 300 MWh. Two assets will operate independently at 49.5 MW / 101 MWh each, while the third will function in a grey-power configuration, sharing grid capacity with a co-located 60 MW solar plant. This structure is identified as the largest of its type in Germany.
