MPOB Enhances R&D Strategy to Boost Palm Oil Competitiveness Amid Geopolitical Tensions
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is advancing its research and development strategy to adapt to global market shifts influenced by geopolitical instability. This initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness of Malaysia's palm oil sector through innovation and alignment with national agricultural policies.

The MPOB's Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) is intensifying its research and development strategy to address challenges in the palm oil industry, particularly due to geopolitical instability in West Asia. The PAC meeting, which spans four days, includes discussions on aligning MPOB's R&D priorities with industry needs and the National Agricommodity Policy 2021-2030 (DAKN2030).
Key initiatives include the mandatory Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO 2.0) certification, a RM171 million oil palm replanting program for smallholders, and advancements in sustainable aviation fuel. The integration of automation technologies, including AI and drones, is also prioritized.
