Nagaland Seeks Investment from NETC to Boost Power Generation Capacity
Nagaland government aims to attract investment in its power sector to reduce reliance on external electricity sources. With only 10% of its peak demand of 193 MW met by local generation, the state is prioritizing renewable energy and infrastructure development.

Nagaland's internal power generation is only about 20 MW, significantly below the peak demand of approximately 193 MW, with an installed capacity of 29.4 MW. The government, led by Principal Secretary Y.
Kikheto Sema, held a meeting with North East Transmission Company Limited (NETC) to discuss investment opportunities focusing on transmission infrastructure, renewable energy generation, and battery energy storage systems. Sema emphasized the necessity for reliable electricity for industrial growth and economic development, while highlighting the state's untapped renewable potential in solar and hydro.
NETC proposed forming a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for joint development of transmission infrastructure. The collaboration aims to improve energy security and create a sustainable power generation framework.
