Nama Power Signs OMR 1 Billion Agreements for CCGT Projects in Misfah and Duqm, Oman

CARBON CAPTURE

Nama Power and Water Procurement has signed power purchase agreements with a Nebras-led consortium and a KOWEPO-led consortium to develop combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power generation projects in Misfah and Duqm, with a total investment of approximately OMR 1 billion ($2.6 billion). The Nebras consortium includes Etihad Water and Electricity Company and Bahwan Infrastructure Services for the Misfah Power project, while the KOWEPO consortium, also involving Nebras Power and Etihad Water, will develop the Duqm project.

Both projects aim to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and support Oman's national grid stability. The projects will use advanced CCGT technology designed for future carbon capture integration, aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and the Net-Zero Target 2050. Construction is set to commence soon, with commercial operations expected to start in April 2028.
