NAV CANADA Study Projects Significant Economic Growth from Drones by 2045
NAV CANADA forecasts a 20x increase in GDP contribution from drones and advanced air mobility, projecting over 290,000 new jobs by 2045. This growth presents opportunities for infrastructure investment and regulatory advancements critical for the safe integration of drones into Canadian airspace.

A study by NAV CANADA anticipates that the drone and advanced air mobility sectors will contribute over $69 billion CAD to Canada's GDP by 2045, with job creation exceeding 290,000. The number of drones is expected to rise from approximately 24,000 in 2024 to 507,000 by 2045, necessitating an advanced RPAS Traffic Management system capable of handling over 21 million operations.
The research emphasizes the need for resilient digital infrastructure and adaptive traffic management to integrate these technologies safely. With 97% of operations projected to provide business value, sectors like logistics will dominate, driving efficiencies and cost savings of 50-70%. Continued collaboration with regulatory bodies will be essential for this integration.
