Navayuga Engineering Sets Guinness Record for Widest Tunnel on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (NECL) has established a Guinness World Record for the widest underground tunnel as part of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link Project. This 13.3 km project, which includes 10.67 km of twin tunnels, enhances connectivity and reduces travel time by 30 minutes, significantly impacting Maharashtra's transport infrastructure.

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link spans 13.3 km, featuring twin tunnels each 22.33 meters wide, constructed by NECL. The project involved excavating over 8.5 million tonnes of rock, utilizing 7,600 tonnes of steel and 3.3 lakh cubic meters of concrete, executed over 9 million manhours.
Real-time monitoring is ensured through a SCADA system, which oversees traffic and air quality. Advanced safety systems, including automated fire detection and jet fan ventilation, are integrated to maintain air quality and respond to emergencies. This achievement marks a significant advancement in India's infrastructure capabilities and sets new standards for engineering excellence in the region.
