NEC and University of Tokyo Calculate Carbon Accumulation Rates in Malaysia's Lambir Hills National Park
NEC and The University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences have calculated carbon accumulation rates for Lambir Hills National Park in Malaysia using the VISIT model and NEC's data assimilation technology. This approach allowed for a high degree of accuracy with a daily margin of error of 9.4%.
The research focuses on quantifying greenhouse gas removals and developing carbon credits in Southeast Asia. The VISIT model integrates vegetation, soil, and meteorological data, improving carbon stock estimations.
NEC's technology links VISIT with satellite data to enhance future carbon flux estimations. The collaboration aims to contribute to forest carbon credit development in Asia.
