Nepal's Remittance Outflow Increases by 12% to Rs 9.75 Billion
Nepal's outward remittance increased to Rs 9.75 billion in the first ten months of FY 2025-2026, a 12% rise from the previous year. This trend reflects the growing presence of foreign professionals in various sectors, highlighting both the integration of Nepal into the global labor market and the need for enhanced domestic skills development.

Between mid-July 2025 and mid-May 2026, remittance outflows from Nepal reached Rs 9.75 billion, up from Rs 8.71 billion year-on-year. The increase is attributed to the rising number of expatriate workers in sectors such as hydropower, banking, and infrastructure, with skilled professionals from countries like China, India, and the US playing significant roles.
Despite this increase, outward remittances are a small fraction of the Rs 1.916 trillion received in inward remittances during the same period. This disparity emphasizes the need for domestic skill enhancement to fill high-paying jobs locally. The trend indicates Nepal's deeper integration into the global labor market, driven by foreign investment and development projects.
