New 160 MVA Transformer Installed in Bhimavaram District to Enhance Power Supply
A 160 MVA power transformer has been commissioned at the Undi 220 kV substation to address increased energy demand. This installation aims to eliminate daily power cuts affecting industrial, agricultural, and domestic sectors.

The 160 MVA Power Transformer (PTR - 4) at the Undi 220 kV substation in Bhimavaram district was installed in 17 days to mitigate power shortages. Previously, the substation operated with three transformers that were overloaded, necessitating daily emergency load relief of 50 to 60 MW.
The new transformer supports approximately 200,000 residents, 32,000 agricultural pump sets, and 30,000 aquaculture connections, enhancing local power supply stability. Additionally, it alleviates stress on the power network, benefiting nearby regions such as Razole and Mummidivaram. This development is critical for sustaining the increasing energy demands across various sectors.
