New Mexico Water Service Completes Upgrade of Rio Del Oro Water Reclamation Facility
New Mexico Water Service has upgraded the Rio Del Oro water reclamation facility, increasing capacity from 200,000 to 320,000 gallons per day. The upgrade supports growth and enhances non-potable water usage in Rio Communities, with treated wastewater set to irrigate Las Maravillas Park this summer. A second upgrade phase is planned for September, which will add a new effluent station and increase capacity by an additional 40,000 gallons per day.

New Mexico Water Service has completed the first phase of upgrades at the Rio Del Oro water reclamation facility, raising its capacity from 200,000 to 320,000 gallons per day. This expansion aims to support new service connections due to residential development and provide drought-resistant irrigation water.
Treated wastewater will be used to irrigate Las Maravillas Park in Valencia County this summer. The second phase, starting in September, will install a new effluent station and increase capacity by up to 40,000 gallons per day. The facility employs Membrane Bioreactor microfiltration technology for wastewater treatment.
