NGSIRS Advances Tax Reforms and Automation in Niger State
The Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS) is enhancing tax compliance and automation to eliminate illegal revenue collection. These actions are part of broader reforms aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in tax administration.

NGSIRS plans to enhance revenue collection through full automation and increased enforcement to combat illegal tax collection. Chairman Mohammed Etsu announced initiatives including awareness campaigns on the Approved List for Collection and the establishment of joint monitoring teams with security agencies to ensure compliance.
He emphasized the need for internally generated revenue to fund visible development projects in Niger State. The agency received recognition for aligning with national tax policy reforms during the 159th Joint Revenue Board meeting, which included participation from the Nigeria Revenue Service and other state revenue agencies. The focus on automation and compliance may significantly improve taxpayer experience and government accountability.
