NH 66 in Porvorim to Close for Elevated Corridor Work Until May 20
A section of NH 66 in Porvorim will close from April 24 to May 20 to facilitate a six-lane elevated corridor project. This closure aims to ensure commuter safety and efficient project progress amidst ongoing construction activities.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has mandated the closure of a portion of NH 66 in Porvorim from April 24 until May 20, specifically from Hotel Neo Majestic to Gauri petrol pump. The right-hand side of the highway will be closed for all vehicular traffic to enhance safety and expedite construction.
Traffic from Panaji to Mapusa will be redirected via the left-hand side service road, while vehicles from Betim towards Mapusa can use the existing right-hand side service road near Gauri petrol pump. The elevated corridor project, funded by the Union highways ministry at Rs 475 crore, spans 5.1 km and is being built by RRSM Infra, with a completion deadline extended to October 2026. Adequate signages and safety measures will be implemented during this closure.
