Nigeria Targets 30% Electrification of Health Facilities by 2027; NISO and Canada Collaborate on Power Sector

The Nigerian federal government has set a target to electrify at least 30% of health facilities by 2027 as part of the Nigeria Power for Health Initiative (NPHI). This program, coordinated by the Ministries of Power and Health, emphasizes the delivery of completed projects and the reduction of hospitals' reliance on diesel generators.

Furthermore, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) is collaborating with Canada to modernize Nigeria's electricity sector through technology transfer and investments in infrastructure. NISO is implementing SCADA systems and promoting renewable energy integration. Concurrently, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has reported the arrest of a vandal attempting to damage a transmission tower, highlighting the importance of community vigilance in protecting power infrastructure.
