Niles Secures $600K Federal Funding for Sanitary Detention Pump Station Project
The City of Niles has been awarded $600,000 in federal funds to upgrade its sanitary system, aiming to reduce flooding and stabilize sewer rates for residents. The funding supports Phase 3 of the Niles Sanitary Detention Pump Station Project, following previous phases in 2023 and 2025. Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz emphasized the importance of this investment for infrastructure improvements.

Niles has received $600,000 in federal funding to enhance its sanitary system, which is intended to alleviate flooding during heavy rainfall and stabilize sewer rates. This funding will specifically support Phase 3 of the Niles Sanitary Detention Pump Station Project.
Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz noted that the project will mitigate flooding risks and help control long-term operational costs. Previous phases occurred in 2023 and 2025. Mientkiewicz acknowledged Rep. Dave Joyce for efforts to secure this funding for Niles.
