Nokia Opens Largest Fixed Networks R&D Facility in Chennai with ₹270 Crore Investment
Nokia has inaugurated its largest fixed networks research and development laboratory in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with an initial investment of ₹270 crore. The facility will focus on next-generation broadband technologies, AI automation, and advanced network solutions, creating over 200 high-end jobs. The second phase of investment is projected to be ₹300 crore, following a memorandum of understanding signed with the Tamil Nadu government during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's U.S. visit in August 2024.

Nokia has launched its largest global fixed networks R&D facility in SIPCOT Siruseri, Chennai, with an investment of ₹270 crore in the first phase. This center will concentrate on broadband technologies including 10G, 25G, 50G, and 100G PON, fixed wireless access, Wi-Fi, multi-dwelling unit (MDU) solutions, AI-driven automation, and cloud-based network controllers.
The company plans to invest an additional ₹300 crore in the next phase. The establishment of the lab follows a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's visit to the U.S. in August 2024 and is expected to create over 200 high-end jobs.
