Norfolk Naval Shipyard Develops DEOCS Desk Guide for Enhanced Feedback Analysis
Norfolk Naval Shipyard's DEOCS launches August 3, utilizing GenAI for improved data analysis. This initiative aims to enhance the responsiveness and effectiveness of leadership actions based on employee feedback.

The Defense Organizational Climate Survey (DEOCS) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) will commence on August 3, 2026. The Shipyard Resilience Team (SRT) has created a desk guide utilizing GenAI technology to streamline the analysis of survey results.
This tool enables a more efficient review process for the feedback from over 10,000 employees, allowing for quicker insights and action planning. The guide compiles qualitative and quantitative data into concise summaries, highlighting key issues and recommendations.
The initiative was prompted by a request from former Shipyard Commander Capt. Jip Mosman to improve survey processing times. The SRT, supported by Department Resilience Teams (DRT), aims to build a sustainable work environment by leveraging data-driven decisions. This tool is anticipated to enhance the overall effectiveness of leadership initiatives aimed at fostering positive change.
