Norway and Morocco Sign Emission Reduction Agreement
Norway and Morocco have formalized a partnership to enhance emissions reductions in Morocco's energy sector. This collaboration under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement aims to boost renewable energy production and facilitate the purchase of carbon credits by Norway to help meet its 2030 climate targets.

Norway and Morocco have established a cooperative framework to reduce emissions in Morocco's power sector, aligning with the Paris Agreement's Article 6. This agreement enables Norway to purchase carbon credits generated from emission reductions funded by Norwegian resources, which may also contribute to Morocco's climate objectives.
The project anticipates an increase in renewable energy output in Morocco, while supporting Norway's ambition to set a precedent in the global carbon market through the Norwegian Global Emission Reductions Initiative (NOGER). The permanence of these emission reductions is crucial for both nations' climate commitments.
