Norway injected first CO₂ into the Northern Lights carbon capture storage site, starting full operations of the CCS project.
Norway's Northern Lights CCS project began operations with the first injection of CO₂ into a reservoir 2,600 m beneath the seabed, marking the completion of Phase 1 with capacity for 1.5 million tons annually. Phase 2, funded with NOK 7.5 billion, will add 3.5 million tons/year capacity.
