NSSA Celebrates Carbon Removal Milestone with RBC's Purchase of Credits from West River Lime Dosing Program
The Nova Scotia Salmon Association (NSSA) marks a significant milestone in climate action as RBC purchases carbon removal credits from NSSA's lime dosing program on the West River in Sheet Harbour. This partnership with CarbonRun enhances river alkalinity, supporting ecological recovery and fish populations while providing funding for continued operations. Initiated in 2005, the program has improved water quality, benefitting salmon and other species over two decades. RBC's investment underlines its commitment to science-based climate solutions and sustainable watershed health.

The Nova Scotia Salmon Association (NSSA) announced a major advancement in climate action with RBC's purchase of carbon removal credits generated through NSSA's lime dosing operations on the West River in Sheet Harbour. This initiative, in partnership with CarbonRun, improves river alkalinity and supports the recovery of fish populations affected by acid rain.
NSSA has operated lime dosing systems since 2005, and RBC's investment aids operational costs and establishes a model for funding ongoing watershed restoration. The West River project is recognized as a significant ecological and climate solution in North America.
