NSW Approves 120 MW Battery Project Amid Local Requests
The Wagga North battery project, a 120 MW and 480 MWh facility by Ib Vogt, is approved with a budget of $225 million. Local resident requests led to specific conditions regarding tree planting and site maintenance.

The Wagga North battery project in NSW has been approved, featuring a capacity of 120 MW and 480 MWh. The facility, estimated to cost $225 million, will be built by Ib Vogt near a business park and requires up to 80 construction workers, with three personnel for operation.
Approval conditions include planting Manchurian Pear trees for visual screening, maintenance responsibilities for the neighbor, and restrictions on site lighting during specific hours. The project will connect to three 132 kV power lines from a nearby Transgrid substation. Such developments may enhance local energy storage capacity but could also lead to ongoing community concerns regarding visual impacts.
