NTT Docomo Solutions Trials AI Robotics for Sewer Pipe Inspection in Kyoto
NTT Docomo Solutions, in collaboration with the Kyoto Prefectural Sewerage Office and Tmsuk, has completed a project to assess AI and robotics for sewer inspection. Conducted from April to December 2025, the trial utilized LiDAR-equipped robots and AI data analysis to evaluate corrosion in sewer pipes and predictive maintenance models.
NTT Docomo Solutions has completed a joint verification project with the Kyoto Prefectural Sewerage Office and Tmsuk to assess AI and robotics for sewer infrastructure inspection and maintenance. The trial took place from April to December 2025 in Kyoto Prefecture, focusing on the use of LiDAR-equipped robots for inspection and AI-based data analysis to quantify corrosion-related wall thinning in sewer pipes. The project also aimed to evaluate predictive maintenance models.
