Nu Quantum Opens Trapped-Ion Networking Lab Near Cambridge HQ and Seeks New Hires
Nu Quantum has opened a new trapped-ion networking laboratory near its R&D headquarters in Cambridge, enhancing its research capabilities. The facility will support the development of its Qubit-Photon Interface technology for distributed quantum computing. The company recently raised $60 million in Series A funding, the largest for a UK quantum company, and is hiring across various technical roles. The lab will collaborate with the UK's National Quantum Computing Centre and other institutions to advance quantum networking technologies.

Nu Quantum has opened a new trapped-ion networking laboratory 1.5 miles from its R&D headquarters in Cambridge, doubling its research infrastructure to accelerate distributed quantum computing. The facility will feature a multi-node networking testbed for testing the Qubit-Photon Interface (QPI) technology, which aims to interconnect commercial quantum processors via a scalable photonic network.
The company has raised $60 million in Series A funding, the largest for a quantum firm in the UK. Nu Quantum is also hiring for various technical positions, focusing on trapped-ion and AMO fields. The lab will collaborate with the National Quantum Computing Centre and other institutions to enhance quantum networking capabilities.
