OpenAI and Amazon have announced a strategic partnership to develop a Stateful Runtime Environment for AI agents, optimized for AWS infrastructure. This environment will simplify the deployment of multi-step workflows by maintaining operational state, context, and governance. Amazon will invest $50 billion in OpenAI to accelerate AI innovation, with a focus on customized models for Amazon applications. The Stateful Runtime is expected to be available soon, enhancing capabilities for various enterprise applications through AWS.

OpenAI and Amazon are launching a Stateful Runtime Environment within Amazon Bedrock, designed to enhance AI agent workflows by maintaining context and state. This environment is optimized for AWS services, easing the deployment of complex applications like customer support and IT automation.
Amazon will invest $50 billion in OpenAI, starting with $15 billion, to support this initiative and others. The partnership includes a commitment for OpenAI to utilize 2 gigawatts of Trainium capacity on AWS to meet growing demand. The Stateful Runtime is anticipated to launch in the coming months, enabling better integration of AI applications with existing infrastructure.
