OptiGrid Secures AMPYR Australia Battery Storage Optimization Contract
OptiGrid has been selected by AMPYR to optimize battery storage operations in Australia using digital twin technology. This partnership is significant as it highlights the increasing complexity and scale of battery storage management in the region.

AMPYR has appointed OptiGrid to enhance its battery storage portfolio across Australia, following a performance evaluation of OptiBidder through digital twin simulations. AMPYR is developing the 300MW/600MWh Bulabul Battery in New South Wales and has acquired the 270MW/2,160MWh Northern Battery in South Australia, aiming for 6GWh of operational storage by 2030.
The Northern Battery's acquisition marks a shift in dispatch strategies that prioritize market impact rather than mere capacity. During a market price cap event in June 2026, performance varied significantly among battery systems, emphasizing the importance of strategic bidding and charge management. This trend of optimization partnerships suggests a critical need for advanced management solutions as the Australian battery fleet expands.
