Origis Energy Launches Swift Air Solar to Support Direct Air Capture in Texas

CARBON CAPTURE

Origis Energy is at the forefront of renewable energy development with its ambitious Swift Air Solar project in Ector County, Texas. Officially operational since April 2025, this large-scale solar installation is designed to meet the substantial energy demands of direct air capture technology. Swift Air Solar operates under a power offtake agreement, supplying electricity to the Stratos facility, a pioneering direct air capture initiative spearheaded by Occidental Petroleum's subsidiary, 1PointFive.

With an impressive capacity of 145 megawatts, the solar installation has already made significant strides, powering approximately 49,000 homes and preventing an estimated 250,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. By retaining ownership and overseeing the ongoing operations of Swift Air Solar, Origis Energy not only demonstrates its commitment to sustainable energy solutions but also addresses one of the critical challenges facing direct air capture: its considerable energy requirements. This project exemplifies how innovative energy solutions can play a vital role in combating climate change and advancing environmental sustainability.
